"Fantastic staff, 7 minute walk from colindale station, healthy meals, very clean and tidy, excellent facilities and flexibility in hours and good value for money."
"My daughter has attended Joel Nursery for almost a year and she loves it. The nursery manager is very proactive, always seeking to improve the nursery even though I think its already perfect."
At Joel Nursery, our fully trained and qualified nursery staff look after babies from 3 months to approximately 15 months old. Our baby room provides a homely and caring environment that is rich in colour, sound, movement and touch for the children to explore and in which they can begin to develop their mobility.
Our under 2s room focuses on the three developmental essentials of early care and education in babies:
-Communication and Language
-Personal, Social and Emotional -Development
Babies enjoy sensory and tactile -experiences such as playing with paints and water, exploring a variety of natural objects in a “treasure basket” or simply enjoying a book and a cuddle with one of the nursery nurses.
Our babies also benefit from free-flow access to a baby friendly outdoor play area with age-appropriate toys and activities. We ensure that all the babies have the opportunity to explore the outdoor areas every day.
The babies have their own warm and quiet sleep room next door. And because every baby in our care is different, and we understand how important it is for your baby to feel secure, we work with you to ensure we follow your baby’s home and sleep routines as closely as possible. This helps to minimise any unnecessary distress to your child and makes the transition from home to nursery as comfortable as possible.
As children grow, they require a more structured approach to their learning and education, and we actively follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS) to plan age-appropriate and motivating activities, specifically designed to develop essential skills; such as language, social-interaction, numeracy, reading and writing in younger children.
We combine a balance of child-led play and adult-initiated learning into our nursery education and regularly monitor the progress of your child's development as part of their ongoing learning journey.
The EYFS framework help us to assess your child's progress in the following development areas:
Communication and language
Personal, social and emotional development
Understanding the world
Expressive arts and design
Potty training is a key milestone for many of our 2 and 3 year olds; we work with you and your child to help them adapt confidently to this new experience, gently encouraging children to take responsibility for their own hygiene and emphasising the importance of correct hand washing.
We incorporate the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) into our daily activities and introduce our children to literacy and numeracy, whilst also encouraging them to be confident and independent investigators and explorers.
The main room is divided into well-defined “learning areas”, each equipped with resources that focus on a particular area of learning. These include emergent writing, mathematics, reading, information technology, role play, construction and many other activities.
